(Extract - Australia 2050 - Collaborative Nation and City Building - Brian Haratsis)

The new geography inside the Australian land mass has new Indigenous boundaries (Native Title), new environmental boundaries (National parks/world heritage areas), new mineral claims, changing climate parameters and new communities.

This geographical context has changed substantially over time, at both National and International levels. International geographic change has affected trading patterns influencing infrastructure and transport requirements and defence relationships.

How we shape up in 2050 is up to us. The decisions we make need to be made in light of our global relationships, location and world markets.
